Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Busra for trade, yet even his intense desire to remain with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not hold him back from going for trade. The reason was that they liked earning through trade and loved trade. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also did not stop Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) from going for trade, even though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved his company and wished to keep Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) with him. The reason for this was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarded trade as commendable and liked it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Kabir, and in al-Awsat in similar words. The narrators of al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy).
