Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5948

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We do not slaughter the muqabalah and the mudabarah (that is, an animal from the back part of whose ear a small piece is cut and left hanging), nor one whose ear has been split, nor one in whose eye or ear a round hole has been made."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Ghaffar bin al-Qasim, who is matruk (abandoned).
