Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5945

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A young ram is better than a large billy goat." A narrator named Dawud says: Sayyid means jalil (that is, large or healthy).
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Thifal, about whom Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: there is room for reservation about him (fihi nazar).
