Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5783

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, faith will retreat to Madinah just as a snake retreats into its hole."
Al-Bazzar recorded it and said: Yahya bin Sulaym al-Ta'ifi narrated it like this, whereas other narrators transmitted it from Abdullah bin Umar, from Habib, from the narrator Hafs, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), and that is correct. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Yahya bin Sulaym is among the narrators of the "two Sahihs", and he may have narrated it from both Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), so there is no objection, since its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
