Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah and prayed two rak'ahs between the two pillars. Then he came out and prayed between the door of the House of Allah and the Black Stone, and then he said: "This is the Qiblah." Then he entered it a second time and, having entered, continued supplicating; he did not pray.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" this report is narrated from him: "He went inside, supplicated, and did not pray."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator Abu Maryam, who narrated from the younger Tabi'un, and I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this report have been declared trustworthy, though some of them have been criticised.
