Al-Mughirah bin Abi Hakim narrates: Once we were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa'd bin Khaythamah (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came, performed tawaf of the House, and prayed two rak'ahs in the courtyard of the House. When he finished, he stood up and clung to the House. When he (Abdullah) saw him, he said: "This is something you people have innovated; we did not use to do this." Then he said: "He was not content until he pressed his backside against it (the House)." Then that man came, and when he reached the door of the mosque he raised both hands and faced the House as though he were supplicating. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is something you people have innovated; we did not do this." The narrator says: We asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): "Were you present at the Battle of Badr?" He replied: "Yes! And I was also present at the Pledge of Aqabah with my father."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared reliable.
