Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him to the people of Makkah with the declaration of disassociation (Bara'ah): that after this year no polytheist will perform Hajj, no naked person will perform tawaf of the House of Allah, none but a Muslim soul will enter Paradise, and whoever had an agreement with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a specific term, his deadline will be that specific term, and Allah and His Messenger are free of the polytheists. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with these commands and travelled for three days. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Go and catch up with him, bring Abu Bakr back to me, and make this announcement yourself." The narrator says: He did so. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) presented himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he began to weep. He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Has something new come up concerning me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nothing but good has come up concerning you, but I have been commanded that this message may be delivered only by me or by a man of my family." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of it is reported in the Sahih.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
