Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), smeared with khaluq (a particular kind of perfume) and wearing (stitched) garments; he had entered ihram for Umrah. He said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you instruct me regarding my Umrah? Allah Almighty then revealed this verse: "Complete the Hajj and the Umrah for Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where is the one who asked about Umrah?" He said: Here I am. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take off your (stitched) garments, take a bath, cleanse yourself as much as you can, and whatever you would do in your Hajj, do the same in your Umrah (that is, enter ihram in the same way)."
