Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5097

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, how are you this morning?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Well, better than a man who did not begin the morning fasting, did not visit a sick person and did not attend a funeral."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Abi Salamah, whom Ibn Hibban and a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), while others called him da'if (weak). Before this, the hadith reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) has passed in the chapter on visiting the sick.
