بَابٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ : الرَّيَّانُ لَا يَدْخُلُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا الصَّائِمُونَ " .

Majma al-Zawaid 5079 — The virtue of fasting
وَعَنْ وَاثِلَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، وَهُوَ حِصْنٌ مِنْ حُصُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، وَكُلُّ عَمَلٍ لِصَاحِبِهِ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ بِشْرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fasting is a shield, and it is a strong fortress of the believer. Every deed is for the one who does it, except fasting, which is different. Allah Almighty says: Fasting is for Me, and I shall reward it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Bishr bin Awn, who is da'if (weak).
