Kharijah bin Zayd bin Thabit reports from his father that he used to spend the twenty-third and the twenty-seventh nights of the month of Ramadan in worship, but not in the way he spent the seventeenth night in worship. It was said to him: "Why do you devote yourself to worship on the seventeenth night?" He said: "It is the night in which the Qur'an was revealed, and on the following morning a distinction was made between truth and falsehood (that is, the Battle of Badr took place)." The narrator says: On that night his condition was such that his face would be radiant.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Abu Bilal al-Ash'ari, who is da'if (weak).
