Habib bin Abd al-Rahman narrates: My paternal aunt, who performed Hajj with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bilal gives the call to prayer (adhan) while it is still night, so keep eating and drinking until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer." (The female narrator says:) One of them would be going up while the other was coming down, and we would say to him: "Wait! Let us take our pre-dawn meal (suhur)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded from this woman
the following narration: "When Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer, eat from this in the darkness (that is, before true dawn)." The narrators of al-Tabarani are the narrators of the Sahih.
