Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4712

Yahya bin Abbad al-Hanzali narrates: A delegation came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he asked them about something, and one of them did not accept his word. He said: "Were it not for the generosity in you, because of which Allah Almighty loves you, then, O delegate of a people, I would have driven you away." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The word wamiqaka means that He loves you.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and it seems that the Companion's mention has dropped from this report, because the original is defective. Its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadith of this kind will come later in the chapter on hudud (prescribed punishments), if Allah wills.
