Sayyiduna Qays bin Sal' al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: His brothers complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "He squanders his wealth and spends it lavishly." I said: "I spend my share of the fruit; I spend it in the way of Allah and on my companions." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his chest and said: "Spend, and Allah Almighty will spend on you." He said this three times. The narrator says: After that I went out to fight in the way of Allah, and I had only one mount. He says: Today I am the eldest of my household and the most well-off of them.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. He said: Sa'id bin Ziyad Abu Asim is alone in narrating it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: I have not found anyone who has given an account of him.
