Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4643

Sayyiduna Qatadah bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Which prayer is most virtuous? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one with long standing. He asked: Which charity is most virtuous? He said: The charity a person of little means gives through his own effort. He asked: Which of the believers is most complete in faith? He said: The one whose character is best.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Suwayd Abu Hatim, about whom there is criticism.
