Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever food was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from someone other than his own household, he would ask about it. If he was told: "It is a gift," he would eat it; and if he was told that it was charity, he would say (to the Companions): "You eat it!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) himself would not eat (it).
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
