وَعَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ : إِنَّ تَسْوِيَةَ الْقَبْرِ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ ، قَدْ رَفَعَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى فَلَا تَشَبَّهُوا بِهِمَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Levelling the grave is the Sunnah. The Jews and the Christians raise their graves, so do not imitate them.
