وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَحَلًّا لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ ، فَسَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ رِجَالٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزِعًا ، فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يَتَعَوَّذُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ .

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a quarter of Banu al-Najjar and heard the voices of some men of Banu al-Najjar who had died in the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era) and were being punished in their graves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out in a state of alarm and commanded his Companions to seek refuge from the punishment of the grave.
