وَعَنْ وَاثِلَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا وُضِعَ الْمَيِّتُ فِي قَبْرِهِ قَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، وَعَلَى سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " . وَوَضَعَ خَلْفَ قَفَاهُ مَدَرَةً ، وَبَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهِ مَدَرَةً ، وَبَيْنَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ مَدَرَةً ، وَمِنْ وَرَائِهِ أُخْرَى .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ بِسْطَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ، وَهُوَ مَجْهُولٌ .

Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the deceased was placed in his grave, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "In the name of Allah, and according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah." Then he would place a clod of earth under the nape of his neck, a clod between his shoulders, a clod between his knees, and another behind him.
