بَابُ كَفَّارَةِ سَيِّئَاتِ الْمَرِيضِ وَمَا لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ .

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا اشْتَكَى الْمُؤْمِنُ أَخْلَصَهُ [ ذَلِكَ ] مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ كَمَا يُخَلِّصُ الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَعْرِفْ شَيْخَ الطَّبَرَانِيِّ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a believer falls ill, (the illness) purifies him of sins just as the furnace cleans the impurity (that is, the rust) of iron."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that I do not know al-Tabarani's teacher.
