وَعَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ فِي جَسَدِهِ يُؤْذِيهِ إِلَّا كُفِّرَ عَنْهُ مِنْ سَيِّئَاتِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْطَبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ قِصَّةٌ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whatever afflicts a believer in his body and causes him pain, Allah Almighty (because of that pain) removes the sins of that believer from him."
