Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Abu Talib fell ill, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him. He said: "O my nephew! Pray to your God, whom you worship, that He grant me well-being." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah, grant my uncle a cure." Then Abu Talib stood up as though he had been freed from ropes. He said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O my nephew! The God whom you worship does what you ask." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O uncle! If you too obey Allah Almighty, He will do what you ask as well."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Haytham bin Jumaz al-Bakka', and he is da'if (weak).
