Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3637

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to use the tooth-stick (miswak) two or three times during the night. When he got up to offer the night prayer, he would pray four rak'ahs in such a way that he did not speak in between and did not give any instruction, but he would say the salam after every two rak'ahs.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Wasil bin al-Sa'ib, and he is da'if (weak).
