وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى وَرِمَ قَدَمَاهُ ، فَقِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ؟ قَالَ : " أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا ؟ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would keep praying (voluntary prayer) at night until his feet became swollen. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty has forgiven your past and future sins." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Should I not be a grateful servant?
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Uthman, and he is weak, though Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
