Alqamah bin Qays narrates: I spent a night with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). He got up in the early part of the night and stood to pray. He recited the way the imam of his neighbourhood mosque recites: he recited with tartil (measured recitation), without tarji'; those around him could hear his voice, and he did not trill his voice; until, when there remained of the darkness before dawn only as much time as there is between the adhan of Maghrib and finishing the prayer, he offered the witr.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
