Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The first person to offer the Duha prayer was a man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), whose kunyah was "Abu al-Zawa'id".
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its narrators have been declared trustworthy. Among its narrators is Ma'mar bin Bakkar, about whom al-Dhahabi says: he is suwaylih (of a lower degree of reliability); al-Azdi says: there is error (wahm) in his hadith; and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in the book "al-Thiqat".
