Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for ten years. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer ten rak'ahs (of Sunnah) every day: two rak'ahs before Fajr, two rak'ahs before Zuhr, two rak'ahs after it, two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and two rak'ahs after Isha.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Fadalah bin Husayn, about whom Abu Hatim said: he is mudtarib al-hadith (inconsistent in hadith); the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
