Qabisah Abu al-Muhallab reports from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Is there any time that keeps us from praying?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, except at the time the sun rises and at the time it sets (prayer is not to be offered), for it rises between the two horns of Shaytan and sets between the two horns of Shaytan."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Jabir al-Suhaymi, about whom there is much criticism. He is saduq (truthful) in himself and his writings are sound, but his memory was poor, and he used to accept prompting (talqin).
