Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the two Eids, a spear would be carried out for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), facing which he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray. He would say thirteen takbirs, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also used to do the same.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Hammad al-Bajali; no one has declared him weak and no one has declared him trustworthy, and al-Mizzi mentioned him for the sake of distinction. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
