Majma al-Zawaid 3230 — Praying before and after the Eid prayer

Ayyub narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and al-Hasan al-Basri praying (voluntary prayer) on the day of Eid before the imam came out. He said: And I saw Muhammad bin Sirin come and sit down without praying (a voluntary prayer).
Abu Ya'la recorded it.
Al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded in (al-Mu'jam) al-Kabir: "Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to pray four rak'ahs," and the narrators of (the Musnad of) Abu Ya'la are the narrators of Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim.
