Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "No one should come to the prayer while he is holding back urine or stool; and the one who is leading the prayer should not supplicate for himself alone, leaving the people out. If he does so, he has betrayed them."
Ahmad recorded it, and these words are also reported from this Companion: "A man should not let his eyes (that is, his gaze) enter a house until he has asked permission." I say: Ibn Majah recorded only this part of it: "No one should come to the prayer while he is holding back stool or urine." Its chain contains al-Safr bin Nusayr, who is da'if (weak); Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
