Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the adhan before true dawn, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to go back and say: "Behold, the servant had fallen asleep." Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) climbed up, saying: "Would that Bilal's mother had lost him, and that he were soaked with the spattering of blood from his forehead."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Qasim, whom Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Dawud declared da'if (weak), while Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
