Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Fasting and the Qur'an will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: 'O my Lord, I kept him from food and from fulfilling his desire, so accept my intercession for him!' The Qur'an will say: 'I kept him from sleep at night, so accept my intercession for him!' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Then the intercession of both of them will be accepted.'"
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good), although there is weakness in the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah; still, he has been declared trustworthy.
