Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "Previously we used to refrain from seeking forgiveness for those who commit major sins, until we heard our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'I have kept my intercession on the Day of Resurrection stored for those of my Ummah who commit major sins.'" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "So we gave up the attitude we used to adopt before, and we began to have hope for those people."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Harb bin Surayj, whom more than one person declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him. The rest of the narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
