Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, on the Day of Resurrection I will be the leader of the people, and I say this without any pride or showing off. On the Day of Resurrection all the people will be beneath my banner, waiting for relief. With me will be the Banner of Praise (Liwa' al-Hamd). I will walk on, and the people will walk on with me, until I come to the door of Paradise and ask for the door to be opened. It will be asked: 'Who is it?' I will reply: 'Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).' It will be said: 'Welcome to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)!' When I see my Lord, I will fall down in prostration before Him, out of gratitude to Him. It will be said: 'Raise your head! Speak and your word will be obeyed, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' Then, through the mercy of Allah Almighty and my intercession, those who had been deprived will come out (of Hell)."
At-Tabarani recorded it. The narrator Ishaq bin Yahya did not reach the time of Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him); the rest of the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
