Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, that one of you takes a rope, goes to the mountain, gathers firewood there, then brings it back loaded on his back, sells it and eats (from that income), is better for him than begging from people. And that a man takes dust and puts it in his mouth is better for him than putting into his mouth something that Allah Almighty has made unlawful for him." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the Sahih, but the part about the dust is not in it.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Muhammad bin Ishaq, who has been declared trustworthy.
