عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ مِنْ مُوجِبَاتِ وَلَايَةِ اللَّهِ ثَلَاثًا : إِذَا رَأَى حَقًّا مِنْ حُقُوقِ اللَّهِ لَمْ يُؤَخِّرْهُ إِلَى أَيَّامٍ لَا يُدْرِكُهَا ، وَأَنْ يَعْمَلَ الْعَمَلَ الصَّالِحَ فِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ عَلَى قِوَامٍ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ فِي السَّرِيرَةِ ، وَهُوَ يَجْمَعُ مَعَ مَا يُعَجِّلُ صَلَاحَ مَا يَأْمُلُ " . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " فَهَكَذَا وَلِيُّ اللَّهِ ، وَعَقَدَ بِيَدِهِ ثَلَاثِينَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The things that make the friendship of Allah obligatory are three: when a person sees a right among the rights of Allah Almighty, he does not delay fulfilling it until days when he cannot attain it; that a person does good deeds openly exactly as he does them in secret; and that whatever he receives, he uses it to strive for the betterment of the Hereafter." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is how the friend (wali) of Allah is," and he showed the number thirty with his hand.
