عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ يَعِظُ أَصْحَابَهُ ، فَإِذَا ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ يَمُرُّونَ فَجَاءَ أَحَدُهُمْ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمَضَى الثَّانِي قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ ، وَمَضَى الثَّالِثُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِهَؤُلَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةِ ؟ أَمَّا الَّذِي جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْنَا ، فَإِنَّهُ تَابَ فَتَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي مَضَى قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ ، فَإِنَّهُ اسْتَحْيَا فَاسْتَحْيَا اللَّهُ مِنْهُ ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي مَضَى عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ اسْتَغْنَى فَاسْتَغْنَى اللَّهُ عَنْهُ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was admonishing his Companions when three men passed by. One of them came and sat with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the second went on a little and then sat down, and the third kept on walking. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about these three men? As for the one who came and sat with us, he repented and Allah Almighty accepted his repentance. As for the one who went on a little and then sat down, he felt shy, and Allah Almighty also felt shy of him. As for the one who kept on walking, he showed indifference, and Allah Almighty also became indifferent to him."
