Majma al-Zawaid 17686 — Which companions are best

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! Which of our companions is best? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one whose sight reminds you of Allah, whose speech increases your deeds, and whose deeds remind you of the Hereafter."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Mubarak bin Hassan, who has been declared trustworthy, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
