Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We used to offer the Maghrib prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then we would come to the quarter of Banu Salimah, and on reaching there, in the quarter of Banu Salimah, which was the farthest area of Madinah, we could see where our arrows landed.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; however, he recorded these words in it: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer the Maghrib prayer, and some men of Banu Salimah would pray behind him, then they would return to the quarter of Banu Salimah and could see where an arrow landed. The chain of this report contains a narrator, Umar bin Muhammad al-Qadi, whom Yahya bin Ma'in, al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared da'if (weak). Zakariyya bin Yahya al-Saji says: He was saduq (truthful), but he was not among the experts of hadith. Ibn Adi says: He is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith); his hadith is to be written down despite his weakness.
