Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17243

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When one third of the night remains, Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven; then the gates of heaven are opened; then He spreads out His hand and says: 'Is there anyone asking of Him, so that he may be given according to his asking?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: This continues until true dawn breaks."
Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this narration, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
