Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I said: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what its explanation is?" I said: "Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(What it means is this:) One can be saved from disobeying Allah Almighty only through the protection granted by Allah Almighty, and the strength to obey Allah Almighty can be attained only through the help given by Allah Almighty."
Al-Bazzar recorded it with two chains: one of them is munqati' (broken) and contains Abdullah bin Khirash, who is predominantly weak, and the other is muttasil (connected) and hasan (good).
