Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "A mountain calls out to another mountain by its name and says: 'O so-and-so, has anyone passed by you today who remembered Allah Almighty?' If the other mountain answers: 'Yes', it rejoices." The narrator Awn said: Would they hear evil things and not hear good things? They hear good things all the better. Then he recited this verse: "And they (the disbelievers) say: 'The Most Merciful has taken a son.' You have certainly put forth a monstrous thing. The heavens almost burst apart from it, or the earth splits open, and the mountains collapse in devastation, that they attribute a son to the Most Merciful, while it is not befitting for the Most Merciful that He should take a son."
Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Reports have already passed concerning the excellence of the mosques and of those parts of the earth in which Allah Almighty is remembered.
