Sayyiduna Ghalib bin Abjar (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The tribe of Qays was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty have mercy on Qays (i.e. the members of the tribe of Qays)!" It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Are you praying for mercy for Qays?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! He was upon the religion of our forefather Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him), son of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, the Friend of Allah (peace be upon him). O Qays, greet Yemen! O Yemen, greet Qays! Indeed, the people of the tribe of Qays are the horsemen of Allah on earth. By the One in whose hand my soul is, a time will come upon the people when this religion will have no helper other than the members of the tribe of Qays. Indeed, Allah Almighty has made some horsemen from among the people of the heavens who are marked, and some horsemen from among the people of the earth who are trained; the horsemen of Allah Almighty from among the people of the earth are the people of the tribe of Qays. Indeed, the people of the tribe of Qays are a portion that has separated from us. Indeed, the people of the tribe of Qays are the lions of Allah on earth." The narrator says: The word "dirra'" means lion.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
