The narrators Muhammad and Mahmud, both sons of Jabir, say: We went out; this was in the days when Hubaysh bin Duljah entered Madinah, one year after (the event of) al-Harrah. When he entered Madinah and mounted the pulpit, the people became frightened. We took Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) with us towards the rocky ground; his eyesight had gone. He stumbled on a stone and said: "May Allah Almighty make afraid the one who made the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) afraid." He said this two or three times. We asked him about it; we said: "O father! Who is it that would make the Messenger of Allah afraid?" He said: "I bear witness that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever tries to frighten the Ansar has tried to frighten what is between these two.'"
