وَعَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي الَّذِينَ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ يَنْشَأُ أَقْوَامٌ يَفْشُو فِيهِمُ السِّمَنُ ، يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ ، وَلَهُمْ لَغَطٌ فِي أَسْوَاقِهِمْ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ .
Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The best of people is my generation, in which I am present, then those after them. Then people will arise among whom obesity will spread; they will give testimony although testimony will not have been asked of them, and their voices will be raised in their marketplaces."
