بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ وَغَيْرِهِمْ ذَكَرَ لَهُمْ أَسْمَاءَهُمْ ، أَوْ وَفَيَاتِهِمْ ، أَوْ أَنْسَابَهُمْ .

- وَقَالَ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ : حَبِيبُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ وُهَيْبِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ شَيْبَانَ بْنِ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، وَأُمُّهُ فِهْرِيَّةٌ ، يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَكَانَ يُدْعَى حَبِيبُ الرُّومِ لِمُجَاهَدَتِهِ الرُّومَ .
Imam Tabarani says: Sayyiduna Habib (may Allah be pleased with him) is the son of Maslamah bin Malik bin Wuhayb bin Amr bin Shayban bin Muharib bin Fihr bin Malik. His mother was also from Fihr. His kunyah is Abu Abd al-Rahman. He was called "Habib al-Rum" because he took a full part in the jihad against the Romans.
