Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16097

Hamzah bin Abdullah bin Utbah narrates: I asked my father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Utbah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "What do you remember concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "I remember that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of me, and at that time I was five or perhaps six years old. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated me in his lap, washed my head with his blessed hand, and prayed for blessing for me and for my offspring after me."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; however, in place of washing the head he reported these words: "He passed his hand over my head." The chain of this narration contains narrators whom I do not know.
