Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16086

Sayyiduna Hani' Abu Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came from Yemen into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invited him to Islam, and he accepted Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over his head and prayed for blessing for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lodged him with Yazid bin Abi Sufyan. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) dispatched the army towards Syria, he too went along with those people, but he did not return.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Khalid bin Yazid bin Abi Malik, and he is extremely da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); however, al-Ala'i's view is different, for he says: It appears that the narrator Yazid bin Abd al-Rahman did not hear from his grandfather Sayyiduna Abu Malik (may Allah be pleased with him).
