Zubayr bin Bakkar states: Sayyiduna Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) was the husband of the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was also her maternal cousin. The mother of Sayyiduna Abu al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) was Halah bint Khuwaylid bin Abd al-Uzza bin Qusayy; she was the paternal half-sister of Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). Her mother was Fatimah bint Za'idah, and Za'idah's name was al-Asamm bin Jundub bin Harim bin Rawahah bin Hujr bin Abd bin Ma'is bin Amir bin Lu'ayy. According to another view, the name of Sayyiduna Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) was "Muhashsham", and he used to be called Jarw al-Batha (the first fruit of al-Batha). Zubayr states: Muhammad bin Hasan and Yahya bin Muhammad told me: The name of Sayyiduna Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) was "Laqit". Zubayr states: Muhammad bin al-Dahhak reported from his father: The name of Sayyiduna Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) was Qasim, and this is the established view regarding his name. Sayyiduna Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) died in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in 12 AH.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is munqati' (broken).
